Adulting in the New Age

Adulting in the New Age

How do we balance making the most out of each new day while bettering ourselves AND trying to meet daily expectations?

I cannot pretend to have all the answers, but I can tell you what I encounter every day and how I have grown to handle those situations in a way that I come back to center with no positive energy lost nor negative energy found.

Life is constantly reminding me to be realistic about what I can actually accomplish. I set very overly high expectations for myself, then implode from exasperation when I cannot do it all in one unplanned day. After taking some college courses as I studied for my Associate's degree in Business and Marketing, a major thing I learned that has helped me assemble plausible goals has been to create them using the S.M.A.R.T Method.

Another worthwhile time-management and productivity method is making a list of tasks you wish to or simply need to complete, then going through and rating their importance from 1-4. With 1 being of utmost urgency and necessity to be completed, 2 resembling more mediocre importance, and then 3 and 4 of slightly less gravity. In leaner terms, 3 and 4 would consist of the tasks like organizing your closet and dressers, finishing your favorite television series or finding the time for a book you have always wanted to read... things that do not HAVE to be done ANYTIME SOON for ANY PARTICULAR REASON other than just wanting it to be done for peace of mind and helping to make your life a little easier.

Moving on to some handy ways you can depend on to help you hack everyday life:

  • Write yourself reminders on sticky notes and stick them on the things that need your attention.
  • Constantly create (and re-create) to-do lists using the aforementioned method of deciding which tasks deserve priority and which could stand to wait a moment or two more (I mean it's waited this long, right?!?)
  • Make decisions now so you don't have to later such as everything to follow below:
  • Preparing lunches/Prepping for dinner ideas the morning or evening before.
  • Choosing what to wear from underclothes to attire and shoes on down to the accessories and eyeshadow to match!
  • Make the holy decision to clean as you go when prepping, cooking, or even snacking in the kitchen. Trust me on this one, your future self will thank you endlessly for it after the fact.

Last I will discuss some important tips of New-Age adulting to help maintain your spiritual sanity in the process.

  • Breathe. Take deep full belly breaths in and out, then repeat for about ten minutes daily. There's a whole art and science to breathing wrapped into a practice called breathwork. Interested in learning more? Check out this book on Amazon, it will show you a good deal for your venture.
  • Set your intentions. Do EVERY thing with an intended purpose for your best results. Need help? This book on Amazon is a gateway into starting yours with success. If you consider yourself more routine-oriented I would suggest this book as well.
  • Stretch. I don't necessarily mean Yoga, but there are so many different types of it to explore for almost every need and level of expertise. My go-to time to stretch is right when I wake up before I climb out of bed (like a cat, carefully stretching each tendon).
  • Drink water, To be creatures that are more than halfway composed of water, we need a lot of it to function fully, not just survive.
  • Get some fresh air. Take a walk outside and breathe in as much clean oxygen as you can stand. The air inside our homes and work place establishments aren't always the healthiest and that is where spend most of our time. YIKES! No wonder.
  • Eat electric. That means fruit. veggies, and whole grains, but nothing that is raw, dead or decomposing. As food, such as meat, begins to decompose inside of our bodies, it begins to release toxins into the bloodstream which can cause cancer, obesity, and advanced aging
  • Ground yourself. Take your shoes off and walk around outside in the soft grass or sit with her feet planted firmly in the dirt and drink up some light codes. Grounding has a huge number of benefits for the human body that includes the acceleration of wound healing, reducing inflammation and blood viscosity, decreasing pain or stress responses, while also improving sleep. It even helps the blood demagnetize itself from its toxins to ultimately detox our bodies as the ground channels and balances our systems from deep within.

More of these topics will be explored in-depth in the weeks to come. I would love for anyone to share feedback with us or simply start a conversation surrounding our current discussion.
